Gray Hallberg has studied and played music for over 30 years. His musical journey began at age seven, when he started private guitar lessons while living in Westerly, RI. In high school, he continued honing his guitar chops by studying with local legend Chris Leigh, and forming a band with fellow Williams classmates called Mystic Mud. Gray studied Jazz Performance (piano and guitar) at the University of Vermont and Music Theory and Composition at the University of Colorado.
While living in Boston in 2013, he met a drummer named Erik Laisi, who also happened to be from Mystic, and together they formed the band Wooly Mammoth. The band just celebrated their 10 year anniversary in 2023, and they continue to write new material and perform actively throughout New England. For upcoming performance dates, visit www.woolymammothband.com.
In addition to Wooly Mammoth, Gray also performs as a solo artist, and with Toby Halsey as an acoustic duo called Woolite. He also teaches private lessons on guitar, piano, banjo, and ukulele.
