Dr. Westchesterson is known as a pioneer in the Yacht Rock-hip hop genre. However his roots as a singer singer-songwriter are firmly rooted in the music and lyrics of the master- Bob Dylan. His well-received tribute shows to Dylan’s music captures the essence of the greatest  American songwriter of the twentieth century. Bob Dylan famously toured with The Grateful Dead in 1987 and resulted in a live album of select tracks which many fans felt didn’t fully represent the breadth and depth of Dylan’s catalog.
For this very special engagement, Mystic Dead featuring Dr. Westchesterson will explore a wider selection of Dylan tunes interpreted as only they can.

In 2018 a group of musicians got together for a once a month Dead night at the Captain Daniel Packer inn in Mystic, CT. It turned out to be a seriously good time that translated to more shows, more fun and Mystic Dead was born.

Deep dives into all things Grateful Dead coupled by the freedom to remain true to their own creative individuality has been and will always be the mantra of all members of Mystic Dead.

THE DOCTOR

Who is Dr. Westchesterson?

The Dr. first rose to prominence as a rapper with the release of two music videos about his home turf of Western Massachusetts. On April 20, 2012 the first video, "413" went viral and instantly cemented Dr. Westchesterson's reputation as the most famous rapper in Western Massachusetts.

But the Dr. is not bound by any one genre. While summering on Block Island Dr. Westchesterson developed an affinity for the smooth sounds of 70's Yacht Rock. In 2022 Dr. Westchesterson created a "Modern Day Yacht Rock Masterpiece" with the release of his album Better Days Ahead.

With the album's release Dr. W assembled "The Headband" - made up of like minded, nautically hip musicians from Block Island. The band chose to debut in Rhode Island- the Dr.'s adopted home state. Two well-received shows at The Ocean Mist and The Knickerbocker have paved the way for more shows in Spring/Summer 23'.

In the off season Dr. Westchesterson likes to keep his fingers loose with local mainland piano bar gigs around the Mystic/Westerly area. For over ten years at Captain Nick's on Block Island, DW's piano bar was one of the island's most notorious speakeasies.

On Monday nights during the summer Dr. Westchesterson takes over the 1's & 2's and spins only the hottest 70's Disco hits at Captain Nick's legendary Disco Night. Doc's turntable skills keep the glittery party going all night long.
