Serving Southern New England the Best in Live Music Since 1933
Beginning November 1, 2025, the Knickerbocker Music Center will be taking a pause in live programming to allow the building to undergo much-needed renovations, including the replacement of the roof, which has been experiencing significant leaks.
This pause is a necessary step to preserve and protect the Knick’s historic home and ensure it remains a vibrant and welcoming space for artists and audiences alike.
The Knick is not closing, we’re simply taking time to invest in the future of this beloved music venue and music education space for generations to come. Programming will resume in March 2026 with a new chapter for the Knick and new partnerships to help continue to preserve the region’s rich musical heritage while fostering a creative home for artists to teach, play, record, and share their music.
We’re deeply grateful for the community’s ongoing support and look forward to celebrating the Knick’s next chapter with you in 2026!
Out of concern for the health of our employees and the community, The United Theatre and Knickerbocker Music Center will be canceling our Youth On-the-Mic event scheduled for Sunday, March 29th at The Knick. Our next Youth On-the-Mic will be tentatively scheduled for Sunday, May 31st from 6-8pm at The Knick. In the meantime, we want to put together a virtual Youth On-the-Mic for middle and high school students. If you (or your kids) are in 6th to 12th grade and perform, sing, or play music (whether original or covers), take a video of a performance of 1-2 songs and email it to us at tony@unitedtheatre.org. We will edit the videos together and premiere a virtual open mic using the clips on The United Theatre and Knickerbocker social media pages (Facebook, YouTube and Instagram) at 6pm on Sunday, March 29th.Youth On-the-Mic is our alternative to the many adult open mics out there. These events provide kids and teens with a place to play and a community of music lovers eager to hear them. So, why not keep it going even if we're all stuck at home.
