In 2018 a group of musicians got together for a once a month Dead night at the Captain Daniel Packer inn in Mystic, CT. It turned out to be a seriously good time that translated to more shows, more fun and Mystic Dead was born.
Deep dives into all things Grateful Dead coupled by the freedom to remain true to their own creative individuality has been and will always be the mantra of all members of Mystic Dead.
Over the last couple of years, Jabbawaukee has staked their claim as one of the top jam / funk bands in Providence as well as New England. The quartet consists of bassist/ vocalist Brendon "Low B" Bjorness-Murano, guitarist & vocalist Dave Hobson, keyboardist & vocalist Jack Skiffington and drummer & vocalist Stu Taylor. The band just released their self produced debut full length LP "Family Tree" in late 2021 , followed by the release of the video for their first single, "Ting Pop (Time Flys By)" . Look for the release of their next single "Day Roll By", featuring Dan Moretti on saxophone (Chic, Robert Plant, Aretha Franklin, Dr. John, Chaka Khan) off of the album, which is on all major streaming platforms.
Prior to the pandemic, Jabbawaukee was nominated for Motif's "Best RI Jam Band" in 2018, 2019 and won it in 2023, "Best Band" in the New London Area in 2019, in The Day, having their single "Moonlight" played in regular rotation on JEMP radio and opening for such national acts as Twiddle, Spafford, Hayley Jane & the Primates, Pink Talking Fish, Strange Machines, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, The Mallet Brothers, The Ryan Montebleu Band as well as many others. This along with their crushing sets at Strangecreek, Wormtown (MA), Rose Arts Music festivals (CT), Rhythm & Roots 2019 (RI), Block Island Music Festival (RI), Ziontific Music Festival (MA), NIMfest 2019 (RI) and The Pheno Cup (ME & NH) , Germination (ME), The Ganja Grail @ Harry Brown's Farm (ME), Summer Jam (ME), Grateful Campout (2021), Riverjam (CT), solidified them as a stronghold in the Northeast Jam Band Scene. Already booked for 2023 at most festivals in the Northeast and Venues Maine to North Carolina out to Pittsburg this summer! Look for Jabbawaukee to invade your universe in the coming future!
